Roblox is a community gaming platform that sees millions of monthly active players participate and explore thousands of different Roblox experiences. For some, the massive expanse that Roblox displays can be daunting, leaving them feeling left out but not knowing where to start. In this quick guide, we'll cover how to get started on your Roblox journey, including creating an account, creating a character or avatar, and joining your very first Roblox experience.
Setting up your account
To create a new Roblox account, you must first go to the Roblox website or open the Roblox mobile app and find the Create Account button. If you don't see this button on PC, look for the gear icon in the upper right corner of your screen and click it. From the drop-down menu, select create an account.
You should now be prompted to enter your date of birth, username, password, and gender preference. Fill in this information and press register when you are done. When creating your username, be sure to make something up – never use your real name when creating a username online.

After clicking register, your account will be created and you will be redirected to the Roblox homepage. Now we can work on customizing your character! Depending on whether or not you choose a male or female gender preference when signing up, Roblox will create a base avatar that looks like a girl or a boy that you can then customize and modify to your liking.
Create a character
To customize your new Roblox avatar on PC, locate the three lines at the top left of your screen and click on it. On mobile, tap your avatar photo in the middle of the bottom menu. In the drop-down menu that appears, click Avatar from the list of options. This will take you to the avatar customization page.
In this page, you can change almost everything about your avatar, including their face design, hair, shirt, pants, backpack, glasses, and more. Every user gets a few free Roblox shirts, pants, and accessories that can be found in their inventory, but the majority of clothing items beyond those will need to be purchased with real money from the Roblox Avatar Shop. Luckily, PGG has a list of even more free items to help you out before you open your wallet.
To browse your inventory and see your current wardrobe options, locate the menu to the right of your avatar. You should see Recent, Characters, Clothing, Accessories, Bodies, and Animations menu headings. If you hover over these titles, more drop-down menus will appear, giving you more detailed options like Shirts, Pants, Hair, Gear, and more. Click on these submenus to explore your inventory.

When you find an item you want to equip on your avatar, click on it. After a few seconds, you'll notice that your avatar sketch on the left will reflect all the changes you've made to its appearance. Your avatar is updated and saved automatically, so once you've found the outfit and look you want, you can just click the Roblox icon in the top left corner to return to the home screen.
Join an experience
To find the main Roblox Experiences page on PC, click Discover in the bold menu at the top of your screen. On mobile, tap the play button in the bottom menu. Here, experiences will be displayed in categories, such as Most Engaging, Most Promising, Most Popular, Top Rated, etc.
As you play through experiences and find the ones you like, the Discover page will automatically adapt and update your Recommended category for you accordingly. To join an experiment, simply click on its icon and press the green play button that appears on the experiment's launch page. You will be transported into the experience in just seconds.
This is the basis for creating an account, customizing your character, and participating in an experience. How you play and spend your time on Roblox is now up to you!
