Eggs in Pokémon Go offer different Pokémon depending on the type of egg it is. There are four separate eggs, the three kilometer, five kilometer, and 10 kilometer are eggs you can receive as rewards for spinning Poké Stops and Gym Discs. Seven-Kilometer Eggs are the ones you get from gifts from friends, and they usually contain more unusual and rare Pokémon. A fifth egg is about to join the mix, a red egg, and receiving them is a little different.
To get these eggs, you'll need to defeat the Team Rocket bosses to receive them. You can find a Team Rocket Leader by defeating six Team Rocket grunts, obtaining enough Mysterious Components to create a Rocket Radar, then tracking them to the nearest Poké Stop. You can meet Cliff, Arlo or Sierra, and after beating them the egg can drop as a reward.
You must also have an open egg slot in your inventory. If you don't, you can't receive the egg at all. It's a good idea to double-check your pack to make sure you have room before engaging the leader. The egg has a chance of hatching a Dark- or Poison-type Pokémon inside.
