Beelzebufo
The Beelzebufo is a large, toad-like creature commonly found in swamp biomes, and it's also the best creature for farming cement paste and chitin. The Giant Toad will slowly gather massive amounts of both of these resources, as long as you farm Meganeura's bodies. We recommend killing something in the swamp, and it will attract the Meganeura.
Additionally, the Toad is also excellent at harvesting Leech Blood from Leeches and Biotoxene from Cnidarias. To harvest biotoxins with a Beelzebufo, you must lure the Cnidarias inland to shallow water, then kill them with the frog's tongue. As a side note, Beelzebufo is also a decent tool for taming other creatures in Ark. The reason for this is that its tongue can stun other creatures with relatively minimal damage.
Triceratops
The Triceratops or Trike is your best bet for your very first tamed creature, as you can find them all over the map and in starting areas. The trike is also a decent harvester and a good defense against some of the early predators you'll encounter in the game. They are also decent at extracting oil from underwater, as they can fend off aquatic predators with their large spiny tail. To oil the mine with an Ankylo, we recommend leveling up oxygen to make it swim faster and weight to keep the Ankylo from slowing down underwater. Therizinosaur

The anglerfish is the best deep-sea exploration mount because it has a light source on its head. They are also the best and only silica pearl harvester in the game, so at some point you should follow one of these things and tame them. Additionally, you can use an Angler to stalk other Anglerfish because their light attracts them, making Angerfishes useful for harvesting Anglergel.
Doedicurus
Doedicurus is the best at gathering stone in Ark, so taming it early in the game is beneficial. You can find them spawning in hilly areas. It is also effective at repelling attacks from predators and is difficult to kill due to its shell.
