Gamedec puts you in the role of the detective. Not just in the real world, but also in the virtual world. With two worlds to explore, that means there are twice as many NPCs and twice as many clues. Both of these things will give you information that will allow you to make inferences.
Deduction is the main detective skill you will use to solve cases. This is not a simple checklist to get, as some clues might lead you down the wrong path. You will need to use the information provided to you and your intuition to draw the correct conclusion.

In your deduction menu, there are yellow nodes for cases. Clicking on these nodes will bring up an expanded menu that shows the possible inferences you can make. Selecting one of these deductions will put you in a specific lane and open up new options for you. Be careful though, if you make the wrong deduction, you may not be able to make any other choices.
In the zoomed inference node, all the clues available to you will be present. This means you can see how much information you have as well as if there is more information. Taking your time and gathering as many clues and evidence is crucial. After all, the more information you have, the more likely you are to resolve your case.
