Here are all the Total War Warhammer 3 races that have been confirmed so far, and some that potentially will be in the future.
All races confirmed in Warhammer Total War 3
There are six races confirmed in the newly announced Warhammer 3, four themed around the Gods of Chaos and two around the human factions Kislev and Cathay. Here are all the confirmed races listed below; if more are confirmed in the coming weeks and months before release, we'll add them to this list.
All Warhammer Total War 3 races confirmed so far:
- Khorne
- Nurgle
- Tzeentch
- Slannesh
- Kislev
- Cathay
In all of our factions Warhammer Total War 3 article, we have already discussed the possibilities surrounding these factions and what we can see from them in this third Total War Warhammer game. For starters, we think the Chaos Four will form a new faction separate from Chaos; we also covered the unit list influences and possibilities for Kislev and Cathay. That said, if you want to learn more about the six confirmed factions, you can find a link to our article below.

All Unconfirmed Races in Warhammer Total War 3
The Warhammer fantasy universe is huge and Warhammer Total War 3 is set to massively expand the Warhammer Total War series. Along with this, the third game will take players to the northeast part of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, which opens up plenty of possibilities for new factions.
For example, according to the lore where Cathay is on the map above, several other factions exist nearby. With that in mind, here are all the unconfirmed races we think will make an appearance in Warhammer 3 at some point.
Ogre Kingdoms
The first and most likely to appear as one of the first Total War Warhammer 3 DLCs is Orge Kingdoms, as their kingdom is literally west of Cathay. Along with that, in terms of lore, they've been fighting Cathay for centuries, so it would make sense to include them at some point. They're also one of the main factions with an army book missing from the series, so it's not hard to put two and two together.
That being said, what is the Barley Kingdom? For starters, the Kingdom of Barley is a brutal domain of scattered tribal kingdoms of large humanoid creatures known as Barleys. They primarily reside in the Mountains of Mourn region and spend most of their days raiding, plundering, bandit mercenaries. The Kingdoms of Orges are also constantly at war with each other and worship a god known as the Big Mouth, with tributes of ill-gotten gains and spoils.
At the unit level, expect to see tons of heavy infantry and heavy artillery wielding infantry similar to that of dwarven irondrakes. Overall, the Kingdoms of Orge would be a fascinating inclusion as they would be something like more artillery and a heavy infantry faction similar to the Greenskins.
Their Legendary Lords will likely be either or both Greasus Goldtooth and Skrag the Slaughter, as they are some of the most notable characters in their factions. Other possibilities include Bragg the Gutsman and Golgfag Maneater.

Chaos Dwarves
Another highly plausible faction that could potentially see a race DLC treatment for Warhammer 3 is the Chaos Dwarfs. Chaos warriors.
As far as lore goes, all you need to know is that the Chaos Dwarfs are the descendants of a lost clan that turned to worshiping a god known as Hasult. They've lost almost all resemblance to traditional dwarves and can perform magic, in fact, they really...really love fire magic. Along with that, some of them turned into half-dwarf half-demon bulls โ which are tabletop lord and calvary type โ and they also enslave greenskins, and half-ton demon possessed heavy artillery cannon from hell.
The Chaos Dwarf Lords will likely be Drazhorath the Ashen and Astragoth Ironhand, with a few more in free DLC. that Chaos Dwarfs are a plausible future DLC for factions.
Empire Hobgoblin
Another possible, but unlikely to be its own faction, is the Hobgoblin Empire or Hobgoblin Khanate. I think it would be more plausible for this to be added at some point as a group of lords rather than its own faction. Most of the time hobgoblins would be far too similar to greenskins to warrant it, as not much is known about their unit roster as they never had a full army book.
Still, it's very likely that we'll see Hobgoblins in some form, as they're also directly tied to the Chaos Dwarfs and their unit roster and lore. Along with this, lore-wise, they are located north of Grand Cathay and have been known to attack the empire frequently. Grand Cathay even maintains several forts to defend against the Hobgoblin onslaught.

The Hobgoblins would honestly be one of my personal favorites to add as they are an exciting faction that has been influenced by the cultures of the Mongols and step people. The faction is even led by a Hobgobla-Khan, who will likely appear as the faction lord.

United Kingdom
To the southwest of the Cathay Empire lies this realm of mystery; it's basically India's version of Warhammer and could possibly be a future but unlikely faction. However, it should be noted that there is almost nothing concrete about what a kingdom of India would look like; our best guess it would have Indian Mythology themed units etc.
Nippon
Our final idea for a future DLC faction would be Nippon; this is because, according to tradition, Nippon is located just off Cathay, so its inclusion is possible. Nippon is Warhammer's version of feudal Japan, so the idea of โโa samurai faction being added to Total War Warhammer 3 is exciting.
The faction has also had some run-ins with other factions already in the game, such as Dark Elves and Skaven, so its possible inclusion could lead to some exciting battle scenarios. As for their unit roster, it's pretty much the same situation as Cathay, other probable future factions; there isn't much lore surrounding it, nor was there an army book written about them. However, our best guess that their roster would be something similar to units from Shogun 2 and a mix of Japanese mythology.
