Assassin's Creed's latest adventure is upon us, and instead of wandering all over Greece, we're instead going to Norway, the land of the Vikings, and then England! Ubisoft has changed the healing mechanic in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It's not like the rest of the other games; Health will no longer automatically regenerate outside of combat!
Assassin's Creed Valhalla: How to Heal
To heal in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you must use healing items, as health will no longer regenerate out of combat. Instead, Eivor can use many healing items that come in many forms and perks to regain their health to max!
The ways to heal in the game are as follows:
- Sleeping
- Sleeping allows you to regain your full health, regardless of your injury. However, it's not like Skyrim, where you can sleep in any bed, more or less. You can only sleep in your colony.
- Food
- As you explore the lands of Norway and New England, you'll come across berries and mushrooms that can be harvested for food. When you interact with these types of food, you will automatically gain health, but you will fill your bag with rations.
- Fishing
- Once you've started creating and upgrading your colony, you can build a fisherman's hut, which unlocks the fishing rod! With the fishing rod equipped, this allows Eivor to catch fish. When a fish has been caught, you can consume it for health or if it is fully healthy โ store it in your ration bag. However, you can catch it without the fishing rod, because you can dive into the water and catch the fish the old fashioned way Mono e mono! In other words, mingle the fish!
- Rations
- When foraging for food or fishing, it will automatically refill the ration bag when at full health. These rations can then be used at any time by pressing right on the D-Pad. It is best to save these rations for emergencies, as the health recovered from rations is more than any other method.
These are the only ways currently to be able to heal Eivor, and as we said, this is a complete change from the healing system that we have grown accustomed to over the history of the Assassin's Creed franchise. This new mechanic forces you to always keep your ration bag full, though usually it won't be that difficult as you explore New England. Make sure right after killing entire villages to stop and pick berries!
