Larian Studios has done an amazing job with Baldur's Gate 3. Even though the game is still in Early Access, it's a great preview of what's to come when the full game releases. The game being in Early Access helps developers learn about bugs and deal with issues much faster than normal, as players let them know about issues they've encountered.
July 7 (2022) Patch Notes
Patch 8 has been released for Baldur's Gate 3. The patch adds the new Bard class, playable gnomes, lots of UI updates, character customization, and more. This is probably the biggest patch for Baldur's Gate 3 to date; The main changes are below. However, you can read minor fixes on the Larians forums.
STRONG POINTS
- Bard class with College of Lore and College of Valor subclasses.
- Musical instruments, usable by any class with the Interpreter feat at level 4.
- Playable Gnomes with three sub-races: Rock Gnomes, Forest Gnomes, and Deep Gnomes. Gnomes start with Gnome Cunning and +2 Intelligence. Added gnome responsiveness to dialogue and situations.
- Ranged critical hits now have battle cameras!
- Baldur's Gate 3 is now playable in Brazilian Portuguese – vamo nessa!
- New spells: Calm Emotions, Enthral, Heroism, Phantasmal Force, and Vicious Mockery. Bards, try Cutting Words, Song of Rest, and a new tadpole power.
- A new hair shading model, improved hairstyles, and all 66 hairstyles are now available for all races and body types.*
- Added strands of hair.
- Gray hair added.
- Swarm AI, which groups minor creatures together so they move at the same time and take quick turns to attack. Fighting many enemies should now feel smoother and faster.*
- Thieves can access expertise at level 1.*
- Use a shovel to dig up treasures and secrets throughout Act 1.
- Sustained emotion acting in cutscenes. New facial animations allow characters to continue to emote realistically as you make decisions in dialogue.
- Cinematic play for the background characters, who now react to the drama unfolding in the dialogues.
- Elves are now a unique animated race.
- Detect reworked thoughts – launch them from dialogs!
- Committing crimes now triggers a new type of cinematic dialogue.
- Sunlight through clouds has a greater effect on shadows and lighting, and gameplay now more closely aligns with light and dark areas of the game.
- Revamped lighting in Act 1.
- Implemented sound occlusion to simulate the behavior of sounds from other rooms and behind doors.
- Hearing attenuation introduced. Dynamic audio mixing features enhance immersion by focusing on your actions and picking out the most important elements of the soundscape.
- Added 10 new skin colors to character creation.
- Updated Gale's face and hair.
- Passive class features displayed in character sheet.*

- Implemented the first phase of our networking improvements: Players with slower and less reliable internet connections should see stability and lag improvements in multiplayer.
- Implemented Nvidia DLAA support as an anti-aliasing alternative.

- Low-spec PCs no longer become unresponsive and fail to load assets when loading save files.
- You can now cast Mage Hand with an active summoned pet.*
- Short Rest can now heal Ranger companions and pets.

- Can now Long Rest at Camp if a companion is dead.
- Fixed a crash when unwanted clicking on the "Go to Camp" button and trade window.
- Fixed a crash when choosing "do nothing" about Astarion holding the blade to your throat.
- Fixed a crash when preparing the Throw action and hovering the cursor over the rejected summon.
- Fixed a crash when dying summons containing Focus.

- Fixed crash when changing companion during dialogue.
- Fixed Direct Connections checkbox being deselected due to NatPunch error.
- You will no longer be stuck in the lobby if you join the host via an invite before you have created a profile and your game folder is in Documents.
user interface
- The sources of advantages or disadvantages applied by spells are now clearly indicated in the target information.
- Summons and followers can now use consumables from other characters' inventories.
- Added feedback when characters heal.
- Equipped items now unequip on double-clicking.
- Added different portrait border colors for friendly and neutral characters in the turn order UI.
- The UI now indicates when you are in turn-based mode.
- Audio options are now properly reset to default.
- Can now cut, copy and paste into password fields.
- The save version number is now visible in the load menu.
- Temporary hit points now visible in Party Line.
- Invulnerable entities and characters no longer display -1/1 HP.
- The Sort by Newest in Inventory option no longer prioritizes older items.

- Tooltips now update to reflect weapon damage values.
- Tooltips now correctly indicate when applicable that the Attack of Opportunity will not be provoked.
- Tooltips now clearly indicate which actions or spells are unlocked by certain items.
- Weapon tooltips now update to add and remove conditions when opened.
- Fixed tooltips not showing if similar tooltips were already pinned.
- Fixed flashing tooltips when unpinned.
