The blood is disgusting and it's no different in Stranded Deep. If you get attacked by a tiger shark or a great white shark, you might start bleeding. If you bleed, you will lose 0,15% of your health per second.
This is obviously bad and could very well lead to your death. You will have to stop the bleeding if you want to survive. There are two ways to stop bleeding. You can use a bandage or gauze. Without these items, you cannot stop bleeding.

Bandages can be found in hidden cabinets aboard shipwrecks – don't worry, they're still sterile. Alternatively, you can make bandages from a single piece of fabric and ties. In addition to stopping bleeding, the bandages will heal two health bars. Using a Band-Aid will consume it, and you can stack this item in groups of four.
Your other option to stop the bleeding is to use gauze. Gauze cannot be found like Bandages and must be crafted instead. Gauze is made by combining kura, quwawa and coconut flask. The materials for this recipe are somewhat scarce, so it's best not to rely on gauze if you find yourself bleeding and instead if needed.
