We all knew this last week after a surprising amount of leaks, but publisher 2K Games has now confirmed that Mafia: Trilogy is coming to PlayStation 4. It features a full remake of the original PlayStation 2 game in the form of Mafia: Definitive Edition. , a remaster for Mafia II: Definitive Edition, and the base game and all its DLC for Mafia III: Definitive Edition. You can play the second and third entries in the franchise starting today, while the remake of the first title arrives on August 28, 2020.
To mark the occasion, developer Hangar 13 released three different trailers. We've embedded the Mafia: Definitive Edition trailer above, but you can browse this link to check out its sequel. And here is the Mafia III: Definitive Edition trailer. Mafia: Trilogy will cost $60, but individually you can buy Mafia: Definitive Edition for $40 or the second and third titles for $30 each.
We've already covered much of the information that was released about Mafia: Trilogy early on, so here you can check out a side-by-side comparison of Mafia II: Definitive Edition. Remember that this pack is a complete package and Mafia III: Definitive Edition does not contain any upgrades. It's just the base game with all the DLCs. Game Informer has released a very handy guide to what's what:
- Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of the 2002 original. It's being rebuilt from the ground up and will have new dialogue, cutscenes, and features.
- Mafia II: Definitive Edition is a remastered version of the 2010 original. In addition to new HD visuals, it also features all post-release add-ons.
- Mafia III: Definitive Edition includes all downloadable and bonus content for the 2016 original, but has not otherwise been significantly altered.
- Each game unlocks unique items in the other two. You can also get additional exclusive items by pre-ordering Mafia: Definitive Edition or purchasing the Mafia Trilogy early.
