MultiVersus Patch Notes (July 2022) - Characters, Buffs, Nerfs and More!

MultiVersus is a thrilling, fast-paced platformer starring characters from Warner Bros. franchises. Players can embody their favorite characters like Shaggy, Harley Quinn, Steven Universe and many more as they compete in 1v1, 2v2 and free-for-all matches. MultiVersus receives regular updates where Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games improve characters and nerfs, add new characters and stages, and add cosmetic items. Here are all the updates for the MultiVersus patch notes.



MultiVersus Patch Notes July 26, 2022

Open beta

For a LIMITED TIME, gold earned from matches has increased by 25% from 26/07 to 08/08 as an Open Beta welcome event!

Batman

โ€“ Neutral Air/Ground Attack: Batarang cooldown increased from 13s to 14s. Batarang's recovery is 11,55 seconds faster than 11,05. This means that the minimum time between Batarang throws is 2,45s compared to 1,95s.

Batman's Batarang pickup cooldown created very small windows where the Batarang was not in play. This change should cause Batman's opponents to have a larger window between Batarang attacks to get a advantage.


Bug Fix: Air/Ground Side Special: Fixed a bug where Grapple would sometimes pull you off the map.

โ€“ Air Up Attack: startup window increased by 2 frames, active window reduced by 2 frames

The hitbox had Bugs Bunny hitting almost everything around him. That should make it look a bit more manageable.

Bug Fix: Air Down Attack: can no longer combine into itself

Bugfix: Air/Ground Down Special: Can no longer repeatedly hit and lock opponents in place forever

Bugfix: Air Up Attack: can no longer hit opponents repeatedly

Steven Universe

โ€“ Neutral Air Attack: Knocks opponents up and away to prevent an infinite attack caused by alternating Air Attack and Neutral Air Attack.

Taz

Bug Fix: Fixed a bug that prevented Taz from doing air attacks once he reached his air special limit.

โ€“ Special Air/Ground:

If you followed Early Access, Taz's Tornado dominated its character kit and featured a non-obvious knowledge check for new players. By reducing its effectiveness, we hope to improve its health and gameplay loop and bring the game to a healthier state for new players.

Decreased tornado duration and additional duration gained from outrunning an ally.

Removed one of the Tornado multi-hits.

Diminution since pause de tous les coups de la tornado.

Reduced final hit knockback in Tornado from 1375 to 1275.


Right now, our plan is to change the tornado to a cooldown move in an upcoming patch. The Tornado is Taz's signature move, so we want to keep it as one of his strongest attacks, as the cooldown forces it to be used more intentionally. These nerfs will reduce Taz's strength, especially at higher game levels, so expect buffs to other moves in his kit in the near future. Thank you for your patience and we will continue to assess Taz's gameplay health.


Velma

โ€“ Weight: reduced from 70 to 63

It was an oversight on our part that Velma is one of the heaviest characters in the game. This change should bring her closer to where we originally envisioned her.

Fatigue of the walls

After spending 5 seconds sliding down the wall without touching the floor or starting sliding down the wall 6 times without touching the floor, you start sliding progressively faster.

After spending 10 seconds sliding down a wall without touching the floor or starting to slide down a wall 11 times without touching the floor, you suffer from wall fatigue.

Wall Fatigue Effects:

Wall sliding no longer resets your Air Specials and Air Evades.


You no longer get a double jump after a wall jump.

For every 0,5 seconds of wall sliding or every time you hit a wall, you lose Dodge Meter.

Fire debuff damage now scales over time.

Abilities that use ammo are now split into two cooldowns: a cooldown to use the ability and a cooldown to recover ammo. Ability cooldown modifiers affect both cooldowns equally.

A glossary of MultiVersus terms has been added to the main menu.

Added two new advanced tutorials covering knockdown influence (KBI) and elemental interactions.

To dodge

Invincibility frames are removed when canceling a dodge into an attack unless the dodge successfully dodges an attack.


Dodge Jump movement increase slowed by 5%

Hitting an ally with Arya's dagger has a longer cooldown, but the ally receives an enrage buff. If Arya rushes a dagger at an ally, she gets angry.

Bugs Bunny โ€“ Lingering Love

The Lingering Love projectile now has a cooldown.

Lingering Love forced opponents to permanently change the way they played against Bugs Bunny and felt too oppressive.

Harley โ€“ Confetti Explosion

Now obtainable through character mastery.

Superman โ€“ NEW โ€“ Breaking the Ice

Superman deals bonus damage to fighters weakened by ice. Bonus damage scales with ice stacks.

We want players to experiment with pairing the Frost Breath and Ice stacks with their gameplay!

Taz โ€“ DELETED โ€“ Back to you

Taz โ€“ NEW โ€“ Gotta get in!

Taz's allies can jump into his hound stack, giving him more damage, more knockback, longer duration, and armor.

General benefits

Many perks have been renamed.

NEW General Perk โ€“ Armor Crush

Your team's fully charged attacks break armor.

Breaks armor at 75% charge if your ally also selects this perk.

Static Electricity (formerly Electric Projectile)

Charge time reduced to 4 seconds.

No longer charges without ground movement.

It's Flammable, Doc! (formerly Fire Projectile)

Ignite duration reduced to 1 second.

Stacked โ€“ Duration reduced to 2 seconds.

Ice to fight you! (formerly Ice Projectile)

Debuff stacks reduced to 1.

Stacked โ€“ Debuff stacks reduced to 2.

Absorb โ€˜nโ€™ Go (anciennement Ability Refund On Take Projectile KB)

Unstacked โ€“ Ability cooldown refund reduced to 7%

Ready for Retaliation (formerly Projectile Gray Health)

Arya

~ Neutral Air Attack:

+ Branching earlier on hit to make combos more reliable.

โ€“ More recovery when sniffed to allow for a slightly larger punishment window.

+ Aerial and ground special: movement tracking on hit is more consistent.

+ Air and Ground Special: cooldown reduced from 20s to 18s.

This is to give Arya a bit more access to armor piercing as the match progresses.

+ Grounded Up Attack: Has earlier hit cancel frames to allow him to combo more reliably.

โ€“ Side Air Attack: Hitbox has been reduced to better match the attack animation.

โ€“ Grounded Side Attack 1: More scent recovery to give the attack a little more risk for its reward.

Batman

The purpose of these changes is to give Batman ringing power and additional utility for the team. Giving a number of different combo attacks and routes that give Batman the ability to stack and hold enemy debuff on the enemy.

+ Air and Ground Side Special: Grapple can now be canceled using jump or dodge.

This should give Batman additional gameplay options and give him some team utility he previously lacked.

+ Grounded Down Special: While in the smoke, Batman and his allies ignore enemy projectiles.

This should help Batman with a bit more team utility.

+ Neutral Air and Ground Attack: Batarang on hit now applies a debuff debuff stack.

+Up Air Attack 2: Applies a debuff debuff stack.

+Side Air Attack 2: Applies a debuff debuff stack.

+Grounded Up Attack: Applies a debuff debuff stack.

โ€“ Air and Ground Special: When exiting tunnels, the invincibility frames of Bugs Bunny and his allies have been reduced.

โ€“ Air and Ground Neutral Special: Bugs Bunny and his allies damage the safe when attacking it.

The vault could remain on the map for too long, so we decided that friendly attacks could also damage the vault, reducing the overall duration of the vault. This should provide more opportunities and openings for the enemy team to play.

โ€“ Side Air Attack: Has more scent recovery to allow it to be more punishable.

Finnish

The purpose of these changes is to reduce the easily achievable blistering movement speed that Finn has access to.

~ Ground attack:

+ Hit chains 1 and 2 together more reliably

โ€“ Reduced recoil on second hit.

+ Aerial Special and Grounded Up: Hitboxes now connect to each other more consistently.

โ€“ Base movement speed: reduced from 2 to 200.

โ€“ Grounded Down Special: Boots of Speed โ€‹โ€‹now increases movement speed by 10% on first purchase, 5% on second stack, and 3% on each subsequent stack, down from 10% on all stacks. It is now capped at 10 stacks reduced from unlimited stacking.

โ€“ Down Air Attack: Hitbox starts a little later.

โ€“ Side Air Attack 2: Increased scent recovery.

โ€“ Neutral Air Attack: Increased scent recovery.

~ Down Air Special: Crystal now counts as a projectile for perk application

Garnet

+ Downward Air Attack: Movement start reduced.

+ Neutral Air Attack: increased base recoil.

โ€“ Special Overhead and Grounded Neutral: Has an additional start-up time before it becomes active

Previously, projectile slowing was active on frame 1, making projectiles nearly useless against a conscious Garnet.

โ€“ Up Air Attack: increased movement start.

โ€“ Side Air Attack 1: takes a bit longer before it can be canceled.

โ€“ Side Air Attack 2: Added additional scent recovery to give a bigger window where the attack can be punished on miss.

Harley

~ Special overhead and grounded neutral:

+ Bomb will now pierce armor.
