After yesterday's teases about Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's new combat system in Future Connected, we get more details about the Future Connected story. It's all about the quest for the Imperial Capital on Bionis and the friends and foes Shulk encounters along the way.
The details come from the Nintendo Japan website, with a translation provided by Reddit user u/CyanTH1.
As mentioned earlier, Future Connected takes place one year after Xenoblade Chronicles ended. Shulk and Melia set out to rediscover the Imperial capital of Alcamoth, initially flying in the Junk from the Machina ship (and if that's unfamiliar to you, don't look for it because it's very messed up).
However, the ship is attacked along the way, crashing into an entirely new area dubbed Bionis' Shoulder. A strange mass causes the landforms to float, and the group also encounter new enemies with strange powers. Shulk can no longer use the Monado's special divination abilities (again for spoiler reasons), so the fight requires careful planning this time around.
This goes double when it comes to the new Fog Beasts. These mysterious creatures emit strange waves of energy that attract other monsters and direct them towards Shulk and co.
Fortunately, Shulk and Melia are not alone. They will meet Nopon's mother and son, Nene and Kino. Kino wields an ether rifle and wants to become a hero in honor of his father. Kino's adoptive mother, Nene, is a strong fighter, but there is no mention of her weapon.
Along the journey, the party will encounter a number of Nopon Surveyors nicknamed the Nopon Rangers, aka Go Go Nopon Rangers! (or Nopongers for short). Helping them and fulfilling their requests unlocks special abilities in battle, so it's definitely worth it.
Translation notes are on Reddit, and original info is on Nintendo Japan.
It looks like Future Connected is shaping up to be a pretty meaty expansion, and we're very excited to see what it has to offer. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition news as it develops.
