How to get a car in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot? This is a question you might ask yourself at the start of the game, as you'll likely notice little racing icons scattered around the map. Visit them and the guy will tell you that you need a car to compete. But how the hell do you get one?
A word of warning before we begin: doingdo not sell your equipment from the start of the game! This includes things like gears, nuts, trees, and various ores. You will need these items to build and upgrade your car later in the story.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Car - Where to find a car
The good news is that you unlock the ability to get a car by playing through the story – you can't miss it. The bad news is that this happens towards the middle of the game.
Near the beginning of Cell Saga, after Vegeta's training session, Chi Chi will demand that Goku turn himself in and get a driver's license. After a quick introduction to how the cars work in the game and a test drive, Goku will get his license.
After visiting Bulma to buy a car, you will open the R&D menu. You can access it by visiting Bulma's lab inside the Capsule Corp building, so be sure to return there once you're free.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Car - How to Build a Car
In the R&D menu, you can build your car using different materials found throughout the game. Once you've designed all the key parts of the car, you can take it for a ride whenever you want. If you want to upgrade, return to Bulma with additional materials.
If you run out of materials, keep in mind that you can buy some of what you need from a materials store. There is one right in front of the Capsule Corp building. For rarer materials, you'll need to go out into the world and explore. Look for bubbles that mention the material you need.
You will also need Zeni (money) to craft auto parts. It's not very expensive, but if you run out of money, you can sell items to traders around the world. Animal parts, like fangs and horns, are an easy source of income. Also try to hunt dinosaurs, as the items they sometimes drop can sell for a lot of Zeni.
It's also worth mentioning that once you've built your car, you can use it to research additional materials as you drive around the world. This makes gathering materials much easier in the long run, so be sure to build your car as soon as possible.
Once you've finished building your car, you can visit racing icons on the map and compete in time trials. Beat the posted times and you'll receive various rewards, but to find victory across the world, you'll need to keep upgrading your car. The Soul Emblem development community grants bonuses to your car's abilities, so be sure to keep that updated as well.
A quick tip that's easy to miss when racing: you don't have to drive on the road. Driving on grass and dirt doesn't slow you down at all, so remember to cut corners if you're looking to hit record times.
