Being a streamer can be hard work, especially when you're just starting out or testing new gear. The last thing you want is for your viewers to see you fumbling on stream. To make sure that doesn't happen, you can learn how to test streams before going live.

Twitch has made the process of testing your stream quite easy, as the website has its own dedicated testing tool. This tool can tell you if you meet the minimum streaming requirements and help you make sure all your gear is working properly.

Here's how to test your stream before streaming it to Twitch:

    • Go to Twitch Inspector and log in with your account.
    • Once logged in, simply click on “Run flow test”.
    • This will cause a window to appear giving you instructions on how to run the test.
    • All you need to do is get your Twitch key and add ?Bandwidthtest=true at the end.
    • Copy the new key into the Twitch Key section of your favorite streaming program.
    • Tap start broadcasting in the pop-up window.

Once done, your test stream will be visible. You can stop this stream at any time and refresh Twitch Inspector to see your stream stats. Make sure you have your normal Twitch key back in place, and you'll be able to go live to your viewers without issue.
