Fortnite split-screen has been tragically disabled (for now)

In an unfortunate turn of events, the Fortnite split screen feature has been temporarily disabled due to a “glitch”. The decision likely comes at an upsetting time for players who prefer to play together on the same couch.

Split-screen was introduced for Fortnite in the latest patch, version 11.30. It only worked on Duos and Squads modes, and only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Patch notes for 11:30 am released on December 12; on the same day, the Fortnite Twitter account revealed that they had disabled the split-screen feature in the game. The instruction does not specify a reason, other than that there are “problems” with the feature. He promises they'll update players when the feature has been re-enabled, but it's been over a day, and there's still no word when it will return.

Since the release of patch 11.30, the game has suffered from some technical problems. The Siphon mechanic, where players gain health after killing an enemy, was inconsistent. Some players have also experienced issues with resetting Class Designer device settings to default after the update.

Most of these issues have been resolved at this point, including the inconsistent siphon. Usually, when a major update goes live, there's bound to be something wrong with a game, and Fortnite is no exception.
