A water breathing potion will be your best friend if you're trying to get luminescent ink bags or tropical fish. That said, you can make Water Breathing Potion in Minecraft with the following resources.
- A nether wart
- A puffer fish
- A water bottle
- A brewing booth
To get a Nether Wart, the first material required for potion water breathing, you will need to explore the Nether. Specifically Nether Fortresses, as inside these forts you will find small wart farms growing.
After the wart you will then have to pick up a puffer fish, you can do this by using a fishing rod in a body of water. If you manage to reel in the rod, you can get a puffer fish this way.
We also recommend enchanting the rod with a lure to further increase your chances of catching the fish.

Once done, you will need to move on to crafting a water bottle. You can do this with three pieces of glass blocks placed in the same pattern as an iron bucket. After that, you will then need to fill it with water by right-clicking on a water source.
Next, you'll need to craft the brewing stand to mix all your materials. To create a brew stand in Minecraft, you will need the following materials listed below, placed in the model inside a crafting table shown below.
- A Blaze Rod – You get these by killing blazes in the Nether. You will also need to turn them into burning powder to power the brewing medium.
- three cobblestones
When the Brewing Stand is crafted and placed, you can create a Water Breathing Potion by first placing Firepowder in the stand.
After that, place the water bottle in the left slot and then the bottom wart in the upper middle slot. Wait for the nether wart to be dealt with, then place the pufferfish in the same spot. After cooking, you will have prepared a Breathing Water Potion in Minecraft.
But if you want to turn that three-minute water-breathing potion into an eight-minute potion, just place Redstone in the top slot above the water-breathing potion inside the brewing rack.
