There's land upon land waiting to be explored in Minecraft, but it's not always easy to reach every biome. Since each world is randomly generated, you might find yourself trapped against a large sea of water. This is where a boat comes in handy.
Swimming in the water without a boat takes a lot of time and you can reduce your trips easily with a boat. You will also be much better protected against dangerous sea monsters like drowners. If you plan to find the final portal, you will definitely need a boat to reach the final portal fortress.
How to make a boat
It is very easy to craft a boat in Minecraft. Here is what you will need:
- 5x wooden planks
- 1x crafting table
Note for Minecraft Bedrock Edition players: In addition to 5x Wooden Planks and 1x Crafting Table, you will also need 1x Wooden Shovel to craft a boat.
To craft a boat, open your crafting table. Place 5 wooden planks in the boat-shaped crafting table as shown above. 3 Wooden planks should be doubled at the bottom. 1 The board should go in the middle row, in the left slot. The last wooden plank should go in the middle row, in the correct slot. For Minecraft Bedrock Edition players: place 1 wooden shovel in the middle row, in the middle slot. Now you have a boat!
Types of boats
There are 6 different types of boats you can craft:
- oak boat
- spruce boat
- Birch boat
- jungle boat
- Acacia boat
- Dark oak boat
These boats adhere to the appearance of the specific wood you have cut and do not affect transportation. You can find these different types of wood by exploring biomes and chopping down the trees that grow in the biomes.
