Fortnite has been down since the end of Season 10 and everyone is staring into the black hole, wondering what's going on and what, if anything, is in store for us? The web is buzzing about it, pulling puns and making jokes, and even famed tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has joked that he might be behind the black hole. While Epic Games is still keeping its silence, hardcore gamers are "having fun" on their holiday from gaming, and now it looks like that black hole has a leak...
Epic Games' Twitter account is still silent, and people are still watching the eerily quiet singularity that has engulfed the entire Fortnite universe. If you haven't followed the cataclysmic event that happened at the end of season 10, it's called The End Event and the game is literally unplayable since it happened on Sunday October 13th. The cataclysm happened right before the eyes of the players, and several recordings can be viewed online…
The short version is – a giant rocket launched into the sky from the center of the Fortnite island. It was built by a mysterious person or entity, which we don't know is friend or foe. The rocket seemed to tear the fabric of reality and soon the sky above the island was filled with similar tears. Finally, a meteor that remained motionless on the horizon, as if frozen in time by man-made forces, was redirected through a tear in space in order to hit the center of the island. The crash created a singularity that sucked everything around it, leaving sight visible to those who tune in now – a black hole.
Since then, neither Epic nor anyone has given an explanation about this mysterious cataclysm. We now have our first leak. Speculation as to why such an event has mostly involved major changes to the game, and the unofficial Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Battle Pass trailer seems to indicate what those changes are. And, of course, that reassures us that the game will continue.
Heavily named Chapter 2, Fortnite seems to have a few interesting features, such as new ways to level up, earn medals in all areas (even chopping down trees), and fishing under fire… It also hints at new cosmetics, over 100 new rewards, and overall, a whole new chapter for the Battle Royale extravaganza. Since this is a leak, none of this is official but the quality of the trailer looks genuine. No release date has yet been set, with Epic still silent as a black hole. Still, the patch started uploading today, according to the latest news, so there is still hope…
