Did you check out the latest additions to Fortnite when they were updated to Chapter 2? You're going to see a lot of new mechanics and strategies over the next few weeks. Because things are fairly new, you'll also encounter a handful of bugs. There's one that launches players into the air if they hide in a dumpster.

When the character jumps into the dumpster, it is rather hidden. They go out and everything goes perfectly. However, when the next person enters the dumpster and the second person follows, the second person is launched into the air when they jump. They disappear into a ghostly silhouette and fly away. Eventually, they return to their physical form, but then they fall to the ground. If a player plays alone, they die on impact. If they're in a group, they might get a raise from a partner, but he'll still waste a lot of time.

Either way, a player turning to the ghostly figure, mischievously dubbed the "Dementor" in the Harry Potter series, isn't supposed to happen. Luckily, a Fortnite developer entered Reddit's red thread to confirm that members of their team were already working on the subject.
Players will likely have to deal with the issue for a few more days. It should be fixed in a new hotfix. Until then, if you and your friends want to play the game with the goal of seeing the bug yourself, you should be able to. The person who wants to be the ghostly figure must be the second person to jump into the dumpster.
