Various leaks have led us to believe Fortnite's next season will be full of sand and sea
PlayStation recently leaked some Icons for Fortnite's third season on behalf of Epic Games, and they look different. Fortnite has presented us with many memorable locations in the past, such as Loot Lake, Anarchy Woods and the Moisty Mire, Sweaty Sands, Dark Slurpy Swamp, and the familiar Frenzy Farm. Many of these areas seemed to blend into each other, creating cohesive world maps, though some could be considered mini-biomes. Fortnite's world map seems to have always been its own little continent - insular, but not made up of islands. Maybe that will change...
The leaked icons give us a glimpse of a tropical island behind the battle bus and a ton of water that looks like ocean. From this image, it looks like Epic Games is tweaking the Fortnite world map a bit. Can you imagine diving into a sandy world filled with trashy motorboats and slick speedboats? Of course I can, and it looks super tough, especially if some of the boats will be equipped with weapons. I imagine we will be blessed with new battle zones… Pirate Point, perhaps? Shark Shoals?
Recently, Dataminers also discovered evidence pointing to fixes that include polished swimming animations, which would be required for characters to have in a waterlogged world. It would be amazing if this new world allowed for extensive diving, and maybe even underwater combat.
Many Twitter users shared their own theories about how long Epic Games planned to surprise us with a drastic change in the world. A user posted a zoomed-in screenshot from the Season 9 loading screen, which revealed a sketch of the battle bus hovering over a tropical island – very similar to the Season 3 icon Obviously, season 3 has been in the works for a long time, which proves that it will be a big deal to watch. Season 3 is set to release on June 17 and we are eagerly awaiting its arrival. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
