Fall Guys is all about bright colors, fast-paced action, and new consecutive rounds. It's great for gaming, but on your computer side, maybe not so much. While not as graphically demanding as a game like Apex Legends or Warzone, it's still a battle royale with many entities loading at once. If your mounts are preventing you from winning the crown, here's what you can do.
Adjust graphics settings
From the main menu, if you go to the gear icon and then click on graphics settings, you'll open up a bunch of options. For the least pretty, but most optimized for gameplay, you're going to want the following settings:
- Texture details: Half resolution
- Shadow detail: Low
- Blossoms: De
The rest of the default settings should be fine, as these are the three most intensive things that don't add too much to the experience, but will reduce the graphical demands of the game.
Fall Guys, and that's it
At the most basic level, that means Fall Guys is the only program you're running. If you're having lag issues, close your apps, especially close your web browser, and if you're using a voice chat program like Discord, play it on a phone or other mobile device while you're gaming.
Note: If you're having lag issues while streaming Fall Guys, it's also possible that your PC just can't handle streaming and playing at the same time.
Check your drivers
Make sure your drivers are up to date. Fall Guys recommends an NVIDIA GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7950 or better and you should always update your drivers to the latest and greatest settings. There is no specific driver required for Fall Guys in the same way that Hyper Scape requires Vulkan, but running a brand new game on an outdated driver can cause significant lag. Check for updates on NVIDIA website or AMD website, whichever you have.
If you are specifically using NVIDIA GeForce and have GeForce Experience installed, you can also choose to optimize the game through there, for your particular driver and machine. All you have to do is select Fall Guys from your list of games and click "Optimize".
Game Mode for Windows 10
If you're using an up-to-date Windows machine, you also have a built-in setting to optimize gameplay without the need for an additional app. Open your start menu, tap the gear icon, select 'game', then 'game mode'. Make sure it is enabled to optimize your playback.
