Fourteen years after the release of Shadow of Chernobyl, STALKER 2 gets its first dev update video
It's been a long, long time coming, but STALKER 2 is finally happening - and we can prove it. This detailed dev update isn't a new trailer, but it certainly packs a lot of information into just six minutes. The video begins with a look at the new costumes for the two opposing factions, Freedom and Duty, which include beautifully rendered and incredibly detailed survival gear. Each outfit features wear, tear, and leak threads, which really add to the feeling of existing in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. The area is a difficult place to live. It would be weirder if everyone's clothes were fresh off the rack. You can also catch a glimpse of the faces behind the gas masks, but the models are still in the works. GSC Game World promises that STALKER 2 will contain even more factions. No details yet, however.
The video goes on to show off some of the weapons you'll come across throughout the game – emphasis on “some”, as the arsenal will include over thirty different weapons, with a ton of mods for each weapon. Again, each weapon is painstakingly detailed and lovingly scuffed. If you're a gun fan, you'll definitely find a lot to like about this section of the update, as there are a lot of guns to look at.
Finally, the developers explain how they add memorable details to the game through the use of their custom teeth tool. Yes, you read that right – STALKER 2 will feature custom dental work for each character. Dental crowns, fillings and missing teeth will bring every face to life. The press release states that “Each character in STALKER 2 will have a unique smile – or smile, to be precise. »
Talk about dedication to detail! The video ends with the promise that GSC Game World will share gameplay footage later this year. We are looking forward to it.
STALKER 2 will be released on Xbox Series X | S and PC in 2021.
