Funny story, Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf, world champion of Fortnite, was "swatted" two nights ago. The 16-year-old was whistling on Twitch, when his father came into his room saying the police were at the door, armed, and looking for him, to which Bugha replied: ? ”. This was all seen and heard on his Twitch live stream.
If you're not familiar with it, the term "flogging" refers to stalking. This is a fake police call or hoax, with the perpetrator filing a fake report with the police in the hope that they will send an armed unit to the targeted person's address. This criminal offense has unfortunately become very popular among gamers and streamers, especially among popular community members like 'Bugha'.
Bugha recently made headlines by winning July's Fortnite World Championship and $3 million. When the police arrived at his door and his father called him back, Bugha left for about 10 minutes. It was later reported that he was having no difficulty as one of the policemen in the same neighborhood recognized him. At the time, Bugha was playing with fellow pro gamers – Fanny “Dubs” Walsh of FaZe Clan and Timothy “Bizzle” Miller of Ghost Gaming.
It is unclear whether the perpetrator of this criminal offense is identified and whether that person will face any consequences for their actions. Bugha was lucky not to have any complications during this unfortunate event. A case of a "brawl" due to a conflict with Call of Duty in 2017 resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man, who was shot by police.
