When a video game publisher needs to renew their license on an IP, you're bound to get something like Transformers Battlegrounds. A trailer for the next game was released earlier today, which doesn't reveal much, so it might be premature to judge this game. It's hard to say what kind of game it will really be. However, the trailer's art style strongly resembles Fortnite, which is probably no coincidence or accident.
When Transformers picked up steam in the 1980s, the cartoon was basically a half-hour commercial for toys. This trailer takes us back to that time serving up a game that's really just a reminder that Transformers still wants your money. So what exactly should we expect from this game? If the title and art style are any indication, this may be a battle royale, which might actually be the most interesting thing a Transformers game could do at this point. If what we see in the trailer is actually gameplay, it could be a third-person shooter, like many Transformer games, though the movements feel a little too mechanical (without gameplay). of words) for a third-person shooter.
Transformers Battlegrounds is developed by Outright Games and published by Bandai Namco. Whatever that game is, Transformers Battlegrounds is coming to PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on October 23.
