For a limited time, you can throw coal at other Fortnite players. Although they are common, you won't find them in common chests. You must search specific locations on the map to locate these items and add them to your inventory.
There are two ways to locate Coal in Fortnite: Pulled from Coolers and Gifts.
Fortunately, we already have all the Icebox locations mapped out for you here. For quick reference, here are all the sites you can find in the game.
If you want to grab coal immediately when you enter a game, be sure to land near one of these locations and take a look around. You are bound to find them.
For gifts, you must have a gift in your inventory, which you can collect from the traditional boxes you find throughout the game. However, these are rare items, and some of them may not contain coal . You might be better off searching the Icebox locations above to make your search for coal much easier.
To use a gift, you must drop it, pick it up to add it to your hotkeys as if it were a weapon, throw it to the ground, and a huge gift should build around you filled with various items available for you. .
When you find a piece of coal, you should receive five pieces of coal for each piece you pick up.
You need to find coal because a Winterfest challenge requires you to damage an opponent with it. To use it as a weapon you have to treat the item like a grenade, no it doesn't remove them, but it does 20 damage. Alternatively, you can throw it at a campfire to immediately ignite, giving you a healing burst.
