Fortnite's commercial dominance continued throughout 2019
Epic Games' free-to-play battle royale phenomenon Fortnite earned $1,8 billion in revenue last year, according to a recent report from SuperData, a Nielsen video game research group.
Although the game didn't make as much money as it did in 2018 (when it made $2,4 billion), but hey, earning almost $2 billion from a game isn't bad.
"In an impressive feat, Fortnite clinched the top spot for a second consecutive year, generating $1,8 billion in 2019," SuperData's report said. “Fortnite's enduring popularity is partially attributable to cross-promotions with pop culture blockbusters like Avengers, Stranger Things and Star Wars.”
