If Halloween is on the way or you just fancy getting a little spooky in your Minecraft world, you'll want to know how to carve your pumpkin into an evil smile! The process isn't too difficult and the result is actually quite useful for crafting yourself a Protector in an Iron or Snow Golem.
How to Carve a Pumpkin
To carve a pumpkin in Minecraft you will need a pair of scissors and use them on a pumpkin on the ground. You can find pumpkins in just about any biome, as all they need is a block of grass with space above it to spawn. You'll most often find them in a plains biome, but that's mainly because that's the most common terrain style in the game.
How to use carved pumpkins
Now that you have a carved pumpkin, what exactly should you do with it? Well, you could obviously use it to decorate your base if you wanted to make it festive for Halloween or add a bit of whimsy to it. They actually make really good lanterns if you turn them into a Jack o' Lantern. This can be accomplished by placing a carved pumpkin in a crafting table with a torch.
The other thing you could use it for is to immunize yourself against Endermen! While it doesn't give you any armor, it allows you to stare at an Enderman without having it attack. You could theoretically use this to your advantage if you're heading to The End to fight the ender dragon or to check out the location. The problem with wearing one of these, however, is that it's pretty hard to see where you're going.
Finally, the most useful thing to do with a Carved Pumpkin is to use it to create an Iron or Snow Golem in-game. It's a good thing to have around your base, as it will protect you from monsters. who appear and try to attack. To create an Iron Golem, simply stack four Iron Blocks in a T-shape, then place a Pumpkin on top of the two middle blocks. For the Snow Golem, simply place two snow blocks on top of each other then place the pumpkin on top!
Farm pumpkins
If you want to grow pumpkins yourself, mowing them is a good idea! This way you will get pumpkin seeds for your troubles. Once you have the seeds, you can till some soil as you normally would and plant one. The only difference from typical farming is that you need to leave at least one open space for pumpkin seeds to grow. It does not grow directly where you plant the seed, but next to that place. When your pumpkin is ready to harvest, be sure to just cut the pumpkin and not the stock. That way he's ready for another pumpkin to grow!
