You can use grindstones to repair your items in Minecraft, but it will come at a cost; here's everything you need to know about grinding wheels.
How to make a grindstone in Minecraft
To craft a grinding wheel, you will need to follow the grinding wheel recipe, which requires the following materials listed below.
- A stone slab
- two sticks
- Two wooden planks
In order to craft the millstone, you will need to place the stone slab in the middle slot of the top row, with the two sticks on either side. After that, place the wooden planks under the two sticks of the crafting table. If you need an example of what to do, we have the full wheel recipe in the picture below.
What does a grindstone do in Minecraft?
A grinding wheel is a crafting block that can be used to repair items with another item of the same type; for example, to repair a diamond sword, you will need to use another diamond sword. Using a grindstone will also consume both elements in the process, creating a whole new one with the combined durability of both elements; the new item will also have a five percent plus to the maximum durability of that item type.

Along with that, using a grindstone doesn't require anvil experience, but it will remove all enchantments from your item. For this reason, we recommend the anvil for repairing enchanted items and the grindstone for non-enchanted weapons and armor.
How to Use a Grindstone in Minecraft
To use a grindstone, all you need to do is place an item you want to repair in the top slot, then an item you want to use to repair it in the bottom slot. You can also use millstones to turn unemployed villagers into blacksmiths. To do this, simply place the block anywhere in a village near unemployed villagers, and believe me, they will find it.
