Very often in Minecraft Survival, players will seek shelter or residence in villages. These are often good places to refuel, rest or trade. However, interacting with villagers means zombie raids may occur and friends you've made in town may become zombie villagers! How to solve this dilemma?
How to heal a zombie villager in Minecraft
So, you befriended a villager, and now he's a zombie. It happens to the best of us. Or at worst, since you couldn't protect them (we kidding, we kidding). Whatever the circumstances, you want to bring them back to the villager they were. Fortunately, there is a fairly simple way to do this.
First, you will need two things: a golden apple and something for the zombie villager to have the weakness effect. It can be anything that causes weakness, but if you're not sure what it is, you can use the list below.
- Splash Potion of Weakness (extended or normal)
- Lingering Cloud of a Lingering Potion of Weakness
- Persistent cloud of an explosion of climbing plants
- Arrow of Weakness
A normal golden apple can be crafted on a crafting table and requires 8 x gold nuggets placed in the crafting slots around an apple in the middle slot.

Use your splash potion of weakness (or however you cause the weakness effect) on the zombie villager. This will cause the normal effects on the zombie villager that it would cause on any other entity affected by it. The important thing to note, however, is the visual effects. Make sure gray-purple particles emanate from the zombie villager, so you know he's under the Weakness effect. You can see an example of this in the image above on the right.
As long as the zombie villager has the weakness effect, use the golden apple on it. You can tell it was successful if the zombie villager now has red particles floating around it. The zombie villager will not immediately turn into a villager. Instead, he will be given a random time of three to five minutes and will transform once that time is up. He will act like a normal zombie while waiting to change into a villager.
