Eventually, when you play enough Minecraft, you'll need to craft a bed to secure a place to sleep and respawn. Luckily, like most survival games these days, making a bed isn't a difficult concept and it's a task as old as time. That said, here we are going to cover how to make a bed in Minecraft and tell you everything there is to know about the resources you need, but before we start, let's explain how beds work in the game:
How beds work in Minecraft
For starters, beds work much like you would imagine in Minecraft, as they provide a place to sleep at night. However, sleeping in a bed will actually change from night to day, allowing you to continue your journey in the morning. Beds are not only useful for sleeping in the dark and spooky hours, they also function as a spawn point for you.
In short, if you die after sleeping in a bed, you will respawn where you place the bed, as sleeping in a bed sets your spawn point to its current location. So if you want to travel and make a home, we strongly recommend that you place a bed as soon as possible.

Where to find wool in Minecraft
The hardest part of making a bed is getting the wool you need. Getting wool can sometimes be a bit tricky as you need to find sheep or treasure chests. You can also kill spiders and use 12 of their falling ropes to create all the wool blocks you need. Another option to get wool is to buy it from a shepherd villager for several emeralds. However, the most reliable way to get wool is to get yourself a few sheep or two.
You can find sheep primarily in grassland biomes, but they can also spawn in other locations. That said, once you find some sheep, you'll need to craft a pair of shears. To craft shears, you need to collect two iron ingots. You can mine down or look for a nearby cave to find iron. Melt it and then use it to create the shears:

After crafting shears, you can then use them on sheep to get wool so you can make your bed in Minecraft.
Where to place your bed in Minecraft?
Once you've collected all three wools, all you need to do is take your wooden planks and wool and put them into a crafting table using the recipe above!. Now that you have your bed, we recommend putting it in a safe place. If you're too close to mobs when trying to sleep, you won't be able to rest until they're gone or killed. You also want to respawn in a quiet area so you're not vulnerable when you don't have loot.
